RP Chat

XSChat is a local-only chat mod designed specifically for role-playing (RP) servers in DayZ. It enables players to seamlessly switch between three distinct chat channels—DIRECT, OOC, and ACTION—with a single key press. When toggled, messages are automatically prefixed and color-coded: DIRECT messages appear in white, OOC messages in Red, and ACTION messages in Bright Green. In addition, the active channel indicator is appended next to the sender’s name so that everyone can immediately tell whether a message is in-character dialogue, out-of-character commentary, or an action description. Keybind Instructions: • Z: Changes the chat channel (cycles through DIRECT, OOC, and ACTION). • [: Decreases the chat font size. • ]: Increases the chat font size. Acknowledgments: This mod was developed with inspiration from an established global chat system by Schana. His work provided valuable insights into effective chat channel design and functionality in DayZ. While his implementation served as a conceptual reference, every aspect of this mod has been reworked and tailored to meet the unique needs of our role-playing community.
