KM BetterFishing Cast your line. Prepare your catch. Keep yourself fed. KM BetterFishing expands fishing in DayZ with more fish, custom tackle, useful tools and server-controlled settings. Fish rivers, lakes and the coast, scoop small fish from shallow water, or build a wooden trap to help keep food coming in. Designed around the DayZ survival experience, with options for Vanilla+, PvE, PvP and hardcore servers. WHAT'S INCLUDED 18 custom fish with matching custom fillets, alongside six vanilla fish in the default catch pools. Improved and Pro fishing rods with configurable catch, junk and hook-wear settings. 10 custom lures and four fishing flies that attach directly to your rod without extra bait. Reusable rubber worms in five colours, grasshopper bait and three additional natural baits. Filleting knives with faster preparation, improved meat recovery and multiple handle colours. A shallow-water fishing net and a craftable wooden fish trap. Bait buckets and tackle boxes, including coloured tackle-box variants. Optional fishing levels, rare catches, fish quantity multipliers and catch messages. MORE FISH TO CATCH Default custom fish habitats include: Rivers & Lakes: Grass Carp, Trout, Perch, Crucian, Crappie, Bluegill, Pike, Barramundi, Red-finned Fish and Smallmouth Redhorse. Ocean: Zander, Tuna, Swordfish, Silverback, Bream, Coral Fish, Coastal Fish and Hammerhead Shark. Prepare custom fish into their matching fillets, then bake, boil or dry them. Fillets include raw, cooked, burned and rotten stages, with cooking sounds. Pike is freshwater by default. Server owners can change each fish's habitat in the JSON. LURES, FLIES & BAIT Alongside the original four lures, the tackle range includes: Six additional lures: Copper Spinner, Blue-Silver Spoon, Red-Head Minnow, Olive Frog, Perch Crankbait and Black-Gold Feather Jig. Four flies: Elk Hair Caddis, Pheasant Tail Nymph, Black Woolly Bugger and Royal Wulff. Normal-hook bait: Maggots, Mealworms and Leeches, alongside worms, rubber worms and grasshopper bait. Lures and flies are the bait. Attach them directly to the rod's hook slot. The vanilla Jig is supported too. Reusable bait has configurable wear; the additional natural baits follow normal bait consumption. PREPARE YOUR CATCH The KM Filleting Knife cuts fish preparation time in half and recovers up to 25% more meat per fillet by default, capped at the fillet's normal capacity. Both bonuses are configurable. Choose the original knife or Forest Green, Safety Orange, Ocean Blue and Bone White handle variants. NETS & WOODEN TRAPS Use the handheld net to scoop for small fish in shallow freshwater or seawater, without bait. Default scoops take 10 seconds, have a 25% catch chance and cause 2 health damage to the net. Craft a Wooden Fish Trap by combining: 2 Planks 10 Nails No crafting tool is required. Place the trap in water and bait it using normal fish-trap rules. Fish pools and the wooden trap's catch multiplier are configurable. FISHING PROGRESSION An optional system records successful catches and awards fishing levels. Configure catches required per level, maximum level, level-up messages and whether progress resets on death. Player progress is saved automatically. SERVER OWNER CONFIGURATION Settings are generated at: $profile:KM_BetterFishing/KM_BetterFishing.json The same folder contains KM_BetterFishing_PlayerData.json and a generated README.txt.
