Better Driving DayZ vehicles are not hard to drive. They are broken to drive. They refuse to turn at speed, die on the smallest hill, barely brake, and punish you with permanent damage for things you cannot avoid. This mod fixes exactly those things and nothing else. No arcade handling, no stability control, no new cars, no new parts, no new HUD. Cars still slide, still roll over, still break when you crash them. They just stop fighting you. On top of that it adds a driver hood camera ("2PP") and a usable inventory for passengers. The one rule The mod never decides where the car goes. There is no auto-straightening, no cornering help, no ESP. Every force it adds points either straight down or along the direction you are already driving. Steering belongs to the driver. What is fixed - all cars Works on every vanilla car and on any modded car built on the standard car class (CarScript). Steering at speed. Vanilla does not limit how far the wheels turn, it limits how fast they get there: on the sedan about 7 degrees per second at 100 km/h, so full lock takes 5 seconds. The mod adds turn-in speed above 15 km/h. Only while you are turning in - releasing the wheel behaves exactly like vanilla. Hills. Normal W is not full throttle in vanilla (65-85% depending on the car), and the engines have almost no torque to spare. The mod takes part of the slope off the car, in proportion to how much throttle you hold. Fades out between 40 and 60 km/h. Pulling away. A small push from standstill up to 25 km/h, so the car moves off instead of bogging on the clutch. Engine bogging down. In vanilla, a tiny steering input on a climb drops the revs, which drops the speed, which drops the revs again. When revs fall low with the throttle held, the mod helps the car keep its speed so the engine can recover. Works the same in mud, under load and on steep ground. Brakes. Vanilla brake pressure falls to about a quarter between 20 and 50 km/h - exactly where you drive most. The mod adds braking force while the brake pedal is held. The handbrake is untouched. Wheels staying on the ground. A small speed-based downforce keeps the tyres in contact over bumps. It is deliberately weak (capped at 0.12 G), switches off the moment the car leaves the ground, and gets weaker on worn tyres. Ruined front tyres finally matter. In vanilla a damaged tyre only gets a smaller radius and keeps full grip, so a wrecked steering wheel changes nothing. Now a badly damaged or ruined front tyre drags: the car slows down and pulls toward the bad wheel, and you have to counter it. What is fixed - damage No engine damage for revving. Vanilla damages the engine every second you spend at the redline. That damage is undone. Crash damage to the engine still counts. No chassis damage. The chassis is the one part of a vanilla car that cannot be repaired or replaced, so every bump was permanent. The chassis no longer takes new damage. The car is not indestructible: engine, fuel tank, body and wheels are damaged as usual, and existing chassis damage is not healed. Engine warning light bug. Vanilla can leave the engine light blinking forever on a car whose engine is off. Fixed. The light still blinks when the engine is really being damaged, for example under water. What is fixed - specific vehicles Only the listed values are changed. Suspension, brakes, damage, cargo and models stay vanilla. V3S truck (all variants). Six gears instead of four, evenly spaced so every upshift lands on the torque peak - the vanilla 3rd-to-4th gap that killed acceleration is gone. Torque moved to where the upper gears work, and W is now full throttle. Cruises at 80 km/h with power in reserve instead of topping out around 60. First gear is unchanged. M1025. M

modperf has not read this mod's scripts, so there is no report and it is left out of any stack it appears in. 2 live servers in the crawl publish it.

The worker downloads the mod from the Workshop and reads its Enforce Script — nothing is executed. Usually a few minutes. This page then shows the report.
