Underground Is Cooler Tunnels, bunkers and anything dug into the ground hold a steady 11-13 °C all year round. Step out of the desert sun into a tunnel and you cool off; shelter underground on a freezing night and it's milder than outside. The problem it solves Vanilla DayZ knows when you're underground, but only uses it for eye adjustment, ambient sound and lighting. The temperature code treats a tunnel like any other building: whatever the weather is outside, plus a little (on Nasdara, buildings are 3 °C warmer than outside). A road tunnel at noon in July is as hot as standing in the shade, and a bunker 25 m down is as cold as the surface on a winter night. What it does A fixed underground temperature. 13 °C just under the surface, easing to 11 °C deep down. Shallow tunnels are slightly warmer than deep bunkers. It never follows the weather, the season or the map's temperature settings. Works both ways. Cooler than a hot day, warmer than a cold night, like a real cellar. Eases in and out. The change happens over about 15 seconds as you go in or come out. On entrance stairs and shafts you feel a mix of outside and underground air. Everything follows it. Heat comfort, how fast you dry off, and the temperature of items you carry all use the underground temperature. Fires still work. A fireplace or heater underground warms you as normal. What counts as underground The map's own underground zones, where it has them: Nasdara's irrigation tunnels, bunkers, tunnel shelters and highway tunnels, Livonia's underground bunker and Sakhal's warhead storage. Anywhere more than 2 m under the terrain: road tunnels, basements and dug-in rooms, on any map, even ones with no underground zones. The tunnel bunker rooms (Land_Tunnel_Single_Bunker), even where they aren't below the terrain. Good to know In a car with the engine running, vanilla holds your heat comfort at neutral (like climate control), so you won't feel the tunnel from inside a running car. Motorbikes and walking are affected. Water still uses water temperature. Installation Server only. Players do not need to download it. Subscribe, and add the mod to your server's -serverMod= launch parameter (not -mod=). Restart the server. Compatibility Any map. Maps with underground zones (Nasdara, Livonia, Sakhal) use them; every map gets the below-the-terrain check. All the logic runs on the server. No config.cpp overrides of vanilla classes, no replaced vanilla files; it's a small script extension of the vanilla environment. Works alongside mods that change clothing, cooling items or heat comfort, as long as they keep the vanilla environment temperature. May conflict with mods that replace the environment temperature calculation outright. Community & Support Questions, bug reports or ideas? modperf has not read this mod's scripts, so there is no report and it is left out of any stack it appears in. 4 live servers in the crawl publish it.
The worker downloads the mod from the Workshop and reads its Enforce Script — nothing is executed. Usually a few minutes. This page then shows the report.
