Linking Your Steam Account
dayz.fyi knows you by your Discord login. Your server knows you by your Steam account. Linking the two tells dayz.fyi which in-game player is you, so that on servers where you are staff, your own admin work (teleporting, spawning items, moving storage around) is recorded as staff activity instead of showing up in your community's alerts and review queue.
If you got here from an alert that said "Is this your admin account?", it named a Steam account that did something only an admin should be able to do, and that account isn't linked to any staff member yet. If it's yours, link it and you're done.
The quick way: follow the alert link
- Click "Is this your admin account? Link it" on the alert.
- Sign in with Discord if you aren't signed in already.
- If your Steam account is already connected to your Discord profile (see below), signing in links it automatically and the page says "You're done".
- Otherwise the page shows two ways to link it. Pick one.
You can also open the same page any time from Account → Your Steam account.
Way 1: sign in through Steam
Click Link with Steam. You sign in on Steam's own website, and Steam tells us which account you signed in with. We never see your Steam password. You come straight back to dayz.fyi with the account linked.
Way 2: through your Discord connections
- In Discord, open User Settings → Connections.
- Add Steam and sign in to it.
- Turn on Display on profile for the Steam connection.
- Sign in to dayz.fyi again.
Each time you sign in, dayz.fyi links every verified Steam connection you show on your Discord profile. Connections you keep hidden are never linked, and of your Discord connections we use and store only Steam.
Good to know
- Link every account you play on. If you have a main and an alt or test account, link each one. Only linked accounts are recognised as yours.
- One owner per Steam account. A Steam account can be linked to only one dayz.fyi user. If the page says it's linked to someone else and it's really yours, sign in with the Discord account you originally linked it from.
- Linking alone doesn't make you staff. It tells dayz.fyi who you are. Staff access still comes from the server owner. If you're linked but alerts still name you, ask the owner to add you as staff.
- Unlinking. Go to Account → Your Steam account and click Unlink. An account you unlink isn't added back automatically from Discord. Link it through Steam if you change your mind.
For server owners
Ask each of your admins to link the Steam account they play on. The easiest way to point them here: the next time an alert names one of your admins, send them the alert's "Is this your admin account?" link.
An admin who isn't linked looks like any other player to dayz.fyi, so their admin actions keep landing in your alerts and review queue until they link.
